Are the air fares to the Solomon Islands and and accommodation chsrges too expensive for would be travellers?
A resident in the Western Province wrote a letter to the Solomon Times this week and asked the following
Quote
Borders are now reopened but still not much tourist activity. Not many people are coming back.
We need to work together and promote our islands, we are competing against many other places in the Asia-Pacific who are now back in full swing and activities booming.
What is the difference here?
I hope that the new international terminal in Munda will boost visitors, but we must look at the airfare to get here. Because if we are more expensive than other places in Asia and other Pacific Islands then we will not attract tourists.
End of quote.
Comment
The writer of the personal letter could possibly have a point that justifies consideration and answers
It will be interesting to have views on the costs associated with visiting and holidaying at home, including air fares and accommodation charges compared to other holiday destinations regionally.
Yours sincerely
