The 2023 Honiara Pacific Games National Hosting Authority (NHA) is inviting musicians of all ages across the country to composure the theme song for the 2023 Pacific Games.
NHA representative and Deputy Special Secretary to the Prime Minister, Christian Nieng and NHA Consultant, Clint Flood made the announcement yesterday at a press conference.
“We are seeking an original and authentic song to represent the games, the land and people of the Solomon Islands, as well as the athletes coming from across the Pacific to ours shores to compete,” Mr Nieng said.
“The 2023 Pacific Games theme song will be the ‘anthem’ for the next four years leading up to and through the 2023 Pacific Games, meaning it must be a catchy and fantastic song.
The theme which artists must base their song lyrics on is, Challenge-Celebrate-Unite.
“The music contest is open to all musicians across the country. Over the next month we want musicians to come up with a song that will really resonate with the people of this country,” Mr Flood said.
Only the winning artist and song will be rewarded with a substantial cash prize of $35,000 and will also be honoured by playing their song live in June 2019 at the unveiling, and also during the opening and closing of the 2023 Pacific Games in Honiara.
