Take My Hands wins at the NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards
I am delighted to be able to mention that my partner charity in New Zealand, Take My Hands won the Partnering for Good Award at the NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards held in Auckland on 22 November.
The NZI Sustainable Business Network Awards are New Zealand’s longest-standing sustainability awards. Now in their 16th year, they recognise and celebrate success in sustainability.
The Partnering for Good award is presented to an organisation that has formed partnerships to generate positive impacts on people’s lives – on health, nutrition, housing, employment, community and more.
The partnership arrangement with Take My Hands led to the signing of a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Solomon Islands MHMS/NRH and myself, as a Coordinator, and the MOU facilitated the freighting of several containers of medical equipment and medical supplies to the NRH, plus items of furniture to the SIDT, clothing and footwear to the Hearts of Hope Charity and mobility aids to the Association of Persons with Disabilities in the Solomon Islands.
Other containers from Take My Hands supplying hospital beds, wheel chairs, mobility equipment and medical supplies were paid for by generous donations from the Solomon Islands Forest Association.
It has been estimated by Take My Hands that up to 100,000 people in the Solomon Islands have so far benefitted from the help the organisation has provided and also the cost savings to the MHMS very beneficial in terms of the minimal outlay.
The second phase payment to see the MOU continue and for more help to come for the MHMS/NRH has not been met to-date.
Yours sincerely
