TAIWAN’S AMBASSADOR TO THE SOLOMON ISLANDS REITERATES HIS GOVERNMENT’S SUPPORT

During a brief ceremony at the office of the Prime Minister this morning, His Excellency Victor Te-Sun Yu, the Ambassador of the Republic of China on Taiwan, said the first payment of ‘ROC Support to the Solomon Island’s Constituency Development (RSCDF) for 2015 and other ROC funding payments had been released.

During the occasion, Ambassador Yu expressed his government’s commitment to the Solomon Islands.

Addressing the Prime Minister, the Hon. Manasseh Sogavare, he promised “To continually support the development and advancement of rural communities in the Solomon Islands.”

Ambassador Yu also used the opportunity to reiterate his government’s support for the development agendas of the Democratic Coalition for Change Government. 

He commented, “We are very much aware of the development policy of the Democratic Coalition for Change Government and the keen interest in developing Malaita Province."

“We need to do some investment promotion of Solomon Islands in Taiwan.”

He said that he would be meeting with Taiwanese investors in Taiwan next month and would encourage them to invest in Solomon Islands.

In response, Prime Minister Sogavare thanked the ROC Government for its continued assistance to Solomon Islands development endeavours.

He expressed appreciation for Taiwan’s offer of assistance in promoting Solomon Islands investment potential in Taiwan.

The Prime Minister went on to say, “Indeed Solomon Islands has so much investment potential. We also have so much to offer to the world in terms of tourism. My government is working on packaging Solomon Islands for sale as a unique tourist destination and we appreciate your kind offer to promote Solomon Islands in Taiwan."

He added, “The Democratic Coalition for Change Government is eyeing a massive influx of tourists from Asia and plans to upgrade the Honiara International Airport to accommodate 747 Boeing flights.”
