Former Miss Solomon Islands, cancer advocate and NRH pharmacist Ms Gladys Abu, during her reign as Miss Solomon Islands, led the work with the Cancer Unit team to establish the NRH Cancer Trust Fund with support of the Bank of the South Pacific.
At the time of establishing the Cancer Trust Fund, Ms, Habu said many individuals, organisations and private firms supported the initiative.
Ms Habu is congratulated for her work in starting the NRH Cancer Trust Fund, as is the Bank of the South Pacfic and all those who supported the worthy initiative...
As the Cancer Unit at the NRH is reportedly still without a single functioning mammogram machine to commence a programme of breast screening of women for early signs of breast cancer, I wonder why it has not been possible to procure a mammogram from the funds of the Cancer Trust Fund?
If the Cancer Trust Fund has inadequate funds to obtain a mammogram, could I please be told if the Cancer Trust Fund is registered locally as a Charity Trust and, if so, what steps have been taken to try and raise funds for the worthy charity outside the Solomon Islands?
If Ms Habu would like to make an external appeal for funds, I will happily publish any appeal she would like to make on my international website – www.solomonislandsinfocus.com.
Yours sincerely
