I have only now received word of the untimely and sad passing of the late Star Dora in Honiara.
I had never met Star but believe he once worked with the Honiara City Council in a senior management role.
I came to know him because of his advocacy for a form of treatment practiced and developed in Israel that has the reputation to heal diabetes and a treatment used in India successfully, also, I believe in the Solomon Islands, much to his great and often expressed disappointment.
He knew I desired to see help for the sufferers of diabetes in the Solomon Islands and especially sought help with wheel chairs for amputees after losing leg from surgery.
Star encouraged me in my efforts to obtain wheel chairs for the patients in the NRH surgical ward and through his urging I pursued all sources to obtain the aids to movement.
I felt honoured to have had the confidence and encouragement from Star for several years to continue to help disability causes at home, and I will miss his supportive letters.
I extend my sincere condolences to Star’s family, friends, and colleagues and to his wide circle of associates in the Solomon Islands.
May he rest in peace after a life of compassion and thoughts for the less fortunate in society.
Yours sincerely
Frank Short
