In the lead-up to the 37th year of Solomon Island’s Independence as a sovereign nation it has been encouraging to have noted the initiatives of the Democratic for Change (DCC) Government and the unprecedented level of bi-partisanship of the Opposition in support of the government’s announced policy initiatives and frameworks following the introduction of the 2015 Budget.
Topping the agenda has been plans to encourage tourism, create free economic zones, attract private investment, establish an independent anti-corruption agency, reform the political voting system and aim for better gender equality.
