MEDICAL STRIKE LOOMS

“SOLOMON Islands medical association (SIMA) has issued government with a 28-day strike notice.
“The notice comes to effect last week Friday, September 27, and lapses on Friday, October 25.
“SIMA represents the 128 doctors and dentists serving in the country.
“SIMA President Dr Claude Posala, speaking with Island Sun yesterday, says SIMA has been forced to opt for an industrial action notice because government has been silent to their call for a dialogue over the matter for the last four weeks.
“Government must be held to account for (allegedly) breaching the Memorandum of Agreement its three ministries, the Health Ministry, the Finance Ministry and the Public Service Ministry, signed with SIMA in February last year.”
