Rural Training Centre in SI offers training for boys in Life Skills

“Divit Rural Training Centre (RTC) in North West Guadalcanal has opened its door for boys to undergo life skill training.
“The training centre since it was established in 1904 only provide like skill training for females not until last year.
“The region’s Solomon Star stringer John Toki said, as of last year 12 boys have undergone life skill training at the centre and they are now involving in the construction of staff houses.
“He said the centre in its development plan will extend the school to accommodate more boys to do their life skill training at the centre.
“Mr Toki said, at the stage the centre only offer training for boys within the Visale Parish and will extend to other parishes.
“He said Divit Rural Training centre is one of the longest vocational school that provides life skills training for women.
“The Visale man said the centre has a long history of producing skillful women particularly in farming and home economics.
“Today the rural training has extended and opens its door for young youths.
“He said the centre after 47 years have provided equal access of education for women across the country.”
