Solomon Islands Envoy to the United Kingdom advises of Commonwealth Secretariat assistance.
Solomon Islands High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, H.E Eliam Tangirongo paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, the Hon. Manasseh Sogavare, on Tuesday this week when the High Commissioner reportedly told the Prime Minister that the Solomons was missing out on a lot of opportunities from the Commonwealth Secretariat, based in London.
As an example of what His Excellency reported, I can confirm that the recent visit to Honiara by the UK Dionysus Ensemble to give music education and instrument instructions to the young musicians of the Solomon Islands Piano Association was made possible through the assistance of the Commonwealth Institute.
The Solomon Islands is an important and valued member of the Commonwealth of which Her Majesty the Queen is the Head. The role of the Solomon Islands in the Commonwealth was further highlighted most recently by His Royal Highness Prince Charles.
As His Excellency the High Commissioner told the Prime Minister, “The world is waiting but opportunities that exist are being missed.”
Yours sincerely
