Drugs ready for distribution

Quoting the Solomon Star newspaper – 23 January 2019]

“MORE drugs are ready for distribution to hospitals and clinics across the country following their recent arrival and release from the Solomon Islands Ports Authority.

“This was confirmed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Treasury and Supervising Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, McKinnie Dentana.

“Dentana said nine containers of essential drugs and other consignments have just been released from the Ports Authority and are now ready for distribution.

“I will ensure that officers responsible for facilitating the distribution of the much needed drugs to our various health authorities and major provincial hospitals are on notice to carry out the required job,” he said.

“Dentana added responsible officers at the ministry have already been informed of the first quarter Medical Grants to all provincial hospitals in order to facilitate distribution of drugs as soon as possible to rural clinics and area health centres.

“Under Secretary Health Care, Dr Gregory Jilini also assured the nation that the distribution of drugs should have already commenced.

“Provincial Health Authorities are expected to receive needed medical suppliers by this weekend or next week depend on the transportation flow to their provinces,” Jilini said.

“We will use which ever form of transportation available to your provinces to get the medical supplies to you,” he added.

“He said the current stock could cater for over five months, but the other major drugs supply should start arriving in April this year.

“Jilini also confirmed that the Ministry will continue to monitor the stock level on fortnightly basis and short term order will be made if necessary.”
