Solomons drug shortage to end soon
QUOTING THE SOLOMON STAR NEWSPAPER – 21 JULY 2018
“THE current drug shortage experienced at the National Referral Hospital (NRH) and other clinics in the city will end soon.
“This was the assurance given to the prime minister, Rick Hou, and his visiting team, when touring the National Medical store at Ranadi, east Honiara, last Thursday.
“The Manager of the national medical store, William Horoto, said the ongoing drug shortage is now under control.
“Drugs are coming in now,” Mr Horoto said.
“Some have arrived already over the weekend and some more will be stocked in, this weekend.
“Mr Horoto added, a 40 foot container of essential drugs ordered will arrived by the end of this month, and some more by October this year.
“We are working really hard to find a way out in filling the gap, while waiting for our much needed orders to come in,” he added.
“Meanwhile, the Director of Pharmacy Timmy Manea said that the National Medical Store is improving by 10 percent now.
“Mr Horoto said that this is the first time for the country to experience the acute shortage of medicine.
“He blamed the procurement process for the huge dilemma.”
