Quoting the Solomon Star newspaper – 22 January 2020

“This was when he was acknowledging Australia as the main donor partner to Solomon Islands for the judiciary, at the opening of the 2020 legal year last Thursday.

“We remember the families who have lost loved ones and properties and pray that God will comfort them and help them to overcome this terrible ordeal,” Sir Albert said.

“He conveyed the heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Judiciary and their families to the Prime Minister and people of Australia at the tragic loss of lives, properties, wild life and forestry as a result of the ravaging bush fire that plagued the nation since September 2019.

“Meanwhile, Acting Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau at the commissioner’s weekly conference last Friday said they are prepared to send five firefighters to help Australia fight the fires.

“He told reporters that the firefighters have the capacity to help Australia.

“They are now only waiting for formalities between the Solomon Islands Government and Australian Government.”
