Assurances of friendship cooperation and assistance for the Solomon Islands.
Following on from the recent talks held with Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare last week, the Japanese Ambassador to the Solomon Islands, His Excellency Shigeru Toyama, has assured the government and the people of the Solomon Islands that his government will continue to maintain its friendship and promote relations in such fields as fisheries, maritime security, environmental preservation, disaster prevention and in culture and sports exchanges.
The Japanese Ambassador used the occasion of a reception in Honiara in celebration of the 60th birthday of Japan’s Emperor to make his remarks.
In concluding his address, H.E Shigeru Toyama reminded his audience that in the last two decades the Embassy of Japan had implemented more than 190 local grass-root aid projects responding to community basic human needs such as school facilities, health care clinics and water supply facilities in villages throughout the Solomon Islands.
Thank you, Japan.
Yours sincerely
