Seasonal mangos could become a valuable export crop for the Solomon Islands
The "common mango" or "Indian mango"—is the only mango tree commonly cultivated in many tropical and subtropical regions, and the mango found in most of the Solomon Islands. Interestingly, it is the national fruit of India, Pakistan, and the Philippines, and the national tree of Bangladesh
There is a ready and increasing market demand for fresh mangoes in China and the possibility of exporting mangoes, when in season, should be considered by the Solomon Islands government.
