Yesterday, in two separate articles published locally and on Linkedin I referred to the ever-threatening sea rise occasioned by global warming happening across the Solomon Islands.
In the second article, I lamented the fact there is still no master plan in place for a new National Referral Hospital (NRH) despite the idea of a new NRH being in the so-called pipeline for the past 10 years.
Both subjects raised comments to me this morning and interestingly, and concerning, advice from a seemingly knowledgeable correspondent was that the idea for the PRC to build a multi-story medical centre on the site of the existing NRH might well have to be abandoned because the hospital is increasingly threatened by the intrusion of seawater.
If what I was informed is a true situation, then the importance of a new NRH takes on a much greater level of importance and one that must get the government’s priority attention
Yours sincerely
