Performance indicators now evident in relaying progressive achievements in the DCGA’s 100 day policy priorities
According to a news bulletin released by the SIBC today, Tuesday, 24 September 2019, the Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement (DCGA) has given some performance indicators of achievements obtained in terms of the government’s 100 day policy priorities.
Performance indicators are essential monitoring tools to be able to evaluate how well the government has done and I am pleased to have read, in particular, of progress in progressing the Low Carbon Emission Development Programe and the installation of a solar power system at the Barana Community Centre.
The SIBC reported other achievements and I will quote from the broadcast report.
“The office of the Policy Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation Unit confirms, a majority of the projects under the resources sector cluster has shown exceptional performances in progress.
“The Prime Minister’s Press Secretariat reports, under the Ministry of Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification this includes the development of the new Mines Bill, which is now with the Office of the Attorney General’s Chamber for vetting before presenting it to Cabinet.
“The Solomon Islands Water Adaptation Project also nears completion. It says, this project was aimed towards a water and solar project in Lavangu and Tingoa in Rennell and Bellona Province.
“Other projects include the development of a Mine Operation Monitoring Guideline to assist the government and stakeholders on issues surrounding the monitoring of mining operations in the country.
“Under the Ministry of Forestry and Research, drafting of the National Forest Policy has been completed and is currently awaiting final approval from the Attorney General’s Chamber before the Cabinet’s deliberation, while the National Herbarium Laboratory Project has reached its completion within the 100 Days.
“Meanwhile, the statement said the Low Carbon Emission Development Program under the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology was also completed within this period. This involved the installation of a Solar power system at the Barana Community Centre, the instalment of Tetere Correctional Bio-gas system and the implementation of the NDC MRV system.
“The statement said, under the Ministry of Rural Development, consultations with key stakeholders have been completed as part of the legislative review of the Constituency Development Fund Act and the Public Financial Management Act.
“Following the recruitment of a legal drafts specialist, further consultation with the public and the provincial government will take place before the final draft of the Bill will be presented to Cabinet. This review will make changes to the current CDF and PFM Acts to strongly address the current gaps.
“The DCGA is committed to the delivery of ongoing and prospective policy priorities in the interests of peace, national stability and economic advancement.”
