Support for clinics, hospitals in Malaita

“FIVE clinics and hospitals in Malaita province have received a boat and outboard motor (OBM) each under a project worth $300,000.
“The support was made possible through partnership between, Global Alliance for Vaccine and Immunization (GAVI) and the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.
“Three of the clinics are; Gwaunatolo, Tawaro and Takataka, while two of the hospitals are Atoifi Adventist hospital and Malu’u mini-hospital.
“The Ministry’s director planning and policy division Ivan Ghemu officially handed over the boats and OBM to the health centres and hospitals last week.
“He encouraged recipients to take good care of assets.
“Mr Ghemu explained the support comes under a three years partnership between GAVI and Ministry of Health to improve vaccination and immunization coverage in the province.
“He said Malaita province health authority has benefited from this partnership in many areas to improve health service delivery in the province.
“More support are expected soon for the province under this partnership,” he said.
“Three provinces that benefits under the current partnership are; Malaita, Western and Guadalcanal.”
