OUR Telekom is investing millions of dollars ($) in telecommunication infrastructure development that will see thirty-five 2G sites nation-wide being upgraded and operational as early as next year.
In a paid feature which appeared in the Solomon Star newspaper, it highlighted that this massive undertaking is part of the company’s Second Business Transformation Project.
These 35 sites will progressively be completed over the period between December and January 2022
In Malaita Province thirteen (13) 2G sites have been upgraded to 3G, and on Guadalcanal, Popo and Maravovo are the late sites to go online, the statement said.
Our Telekom assured its customers in Isabel, Makira, Renbel, Temotu, North Choiseul/Wagina and Shortlands that will soon enjoy 3G coverage as early as January.
This means parts of these provinces will have access to faster internet services by mid next year.
Our Telekom said it is committed to ensure citizens of this nation are able to participate and benefit from fast and reliable Internet access.
It said the presence of the submarine fibre optic cable promises to enhance mobile Internet experience and open up new exciting opportunities that would revolutionise how we work, do business and live.
