I have illustrated this brief story with a photograph of mangoes – a seasonal fruit of high value and easily grown in the Solomon Islands.
The illustration shows just a small selection of mangoes laid out for sale in the Gizo market.
The question that occurs to me is why are mangoes not being canned or packaged as a fruit juice for the export market, as they are extensively here in Thailand?
Would it really not be relatively easy to create a processing plant for their value as a healthy, export commodity?
I am surprised that the PRC has not taken up the initiative to develop such an idea to-date.
Yours sincerely
