The Solomon Islands will soon be the proud hosts of the Pacific Games and I have read many organizations, business firms and local industry has already contributed substantially to ensure the Games are successful and a credit to the island nation.
Comment
If those who will be attending the Games as observers of the varied and many field and track events are required to pay an entrance fee, as I feel will be the case, then it would be my request that the government orders a percentage of the entrance ticket price be allocated and used to fund the National Referral Hospital (NRH) as the hospital, without a budget from the national government, greatly needs an injection of funds to maintain its services and keep to the high standards all have come to expect of it as the only referral hospital with a population now in excess of 700,000 and a hospital coping as best as it can with very high levels of NCD related cases and high bed occupancy straining all its resources and staff to the limit.
Sincerely
Frank Short
