As I have now succumbed to old age and infirmity, I am troubled by traditional Christian values, practices and traditions I see as under threat in some countries, including my own country of birth, and I reflect with relief and pride how the Christian religion is still deeply rooted and upheld in the Solomon Islands.
Christianity is the predominant religion in Solomon Islands, with the Anglicanism (Church of Melanesia) being the single largest denomination.
The constitution of Solomon Islands establishes the freedom of religion, and this freedom is respected in practice by both the government and general society.
Please do not ever lose sight of your Christian values and remain the country I value with pride and thankfulness for once having had the privilege of serving the Solomon Islands.
