This coming Sunday will mark a very special anniversary for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, as the monarch ascended the throne on 6 February 1952, following the death of her father, King George VI.
Queen Elizabeth was 25 when she became queen in 1952, and her coronation followed on 2 June 1953 in London.
Her Majesty the Queen is Head of State in the Solomon Islands and is represented by His Excellency Sir David Vunagi, GCMG.
