Today, 21 April 2016, is the birthday of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II who acceded to the British Throne in 1952, following the death of her late father, His Majesty King George VI.
Her Majesty is also the Queen and Head of State in the Solomon Islands but she is officially represented in the Solomons by Sir Frank Utu Ofagioro Kabui, GCMG, CSI, OBE, who has been the Governor General since 7 July 2009.
Her Majesty the Queen last made an official visit to the Solomon Islands in 1974 when she travelled there aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia.
