Good wishes for the reopening of air borders and a resumption of the local tourism industry

Solomon Islands will, reportedly, fully open its air borders again on 1 July 2022 and I express my best wishes for the return of tourists to restart the tourism industry and give a much-needed lift to tourism operators and provide the much-needed boost to the national economy.

I thank the New Zealand Government for the NZD $550,000 funding package to support the tourism sector in the Solomon Islands and I trust the financial help will soon benefit the tourism trade following the many challenges the industry and tourism operators have had to endure due to the Covid pandemic.

I wish success to Solomon Airlines following the opening of the air borders and a quick return to business and profitability

I thank all those who have been engaged in the early planning and health and safety requirements in preparation for the return of tourists and visitors alike.

Yours sincerely
