In March, the UK's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said that more than 11 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine had been administered across the country with no issues.
Dr Phil Bryan, the MHRA's vaccines safety lead, has urged Britons to "still go and get their COVID-19 vaccine when asked to do so".
Today, Boris Johnson, UK’s Prime Minister, said the UK had reported 52 deaths the lowest death rate from Covid-19 since the 12 October,
Speaking at the virtual Scottish Conservative conference, Mr Johnson said: "In the coming months we will beat Covid. We will vaccinate everyone in our country and we will be able to remove restrictions.
"In the not-too-distant future, we will be able to reopen businesses, see friends in each other's houses and hold our loved ones again."
In the Solomon Islands, 20,000 AstraZeneca COVID-19 doses will arrive in the country on Friday, health officials have confirmed.
The Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, Dr Gregory Jilini, made the confirmation during oversight committee’s weekly talk back show over the weekend.
He says frontline workers will be the first to get vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine, and this could happen as early as next week.
In the UK Her Majesty the Queen, at 94 and His Royal Highness Prince Philip, at 99 has already been vaccinated against coronavirus and at home the Minister for Health and Medical Services (MHMS) has said he is ready to be vaccinated.
Last week, the Prime Minister, Hon. Manasseh Sogavare said he was also willing to be the first to be vaccinated to demonstrate his confidence in the vaccine’s safety.
