Computers for the disabled and handicapped in the Solomon Islands.
I read recently that one diplomatic mission in Honiara has given several computers to a local newspaper to aid the newspaper publish and circulate news about the MHMS work in containing the coronavirus pandemic.
My thoughts turned to how the local disabled community and those that suffer from some degree of handicap and are assisted at the San Isidro school and the one near the Henderson Airport might benefit, if not already, by having a computer, I-Pad or I-Phone.
I doubt there is any charity in the Solomon Islands, or perhaps any diplomatic partner, yet to assist the disabled community with such communication tools.
In the UK, in Basildon, there is a charity, founded in1998, that does give out second hand, but fully serviced items for use by the disabled or partially handicapped.
Might I suggest the charity be contacted to see what help might be offered to the disabled community in the Solomon Islands.
It could be the charity would help if only the freight costs to cover any computers could be covered,
The address if the charity is 41 Waverly Road, Noak Bridge, Basildon, Essex. SS15 4BJ.
On a separate note I wrote last week saying I had managed to secure two pallets of new shoes for young children and wanted to have them shipped from New Zealand for the infants and orphaned in the care of the Hearts of Hope Charity on Malaita.
Sadly, I have not had any offer to help pay for the sea freight to-date and unless I hear soon, I will have to ask another charity to take the shoes.
Yours sincerely
