Bio-security Deal sealed

The recently concluded Joint Border Committee (JBC) in Gizo, Western Province has acknowledged the signing of a milestone Biosecurity Memorandum of Agreement (MoU) between Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea in Honiara on August 27.
The signing of the MoU between Biosecurity SI (BSI) and PNG National Agriculture and Quarantine Inspection Authority (NAQIA) is a milestone achievement made by both agencies.
Both countries look forward to strengthening their cooperation in addressing biosecurity issues through operationalization of the recently signed Biosecurity MoU.
Meanwhile, PNG has shared its experiences in conducting a baseline survey with Australia.
The Solomon Islands Co-Chair, Collin Beck acknowledged PNG for sharing information on the baseline studies conducted in its waters.
He also informed the meeting that the Government of Solomon Islands has planned to update its maritime charts, taking into account the changes made to the baseline caused by tectonic shifts and climate dynamics.
