PM says SI values Australia relationship

Prime Minister Rick Houenipwela says Solomon Islands value the excellent relationship it has with the Australian Government and its people.
He uttered the statement when addressing the Australian High Commissioner Mr Roderick Brazier and Australian nationals during the Australian Day celebrations at the Australian High Commissioner’s residence in Honiara last Thursday.
Mr Houenipwela said on behalf of the government and the people of Solomon Islands he is very grateful to the Government of Australia and the people of Australia for the long standing association and friendly relationship that are enjoyed by the people of Solomon Islands.
“National days are important landmarks to any country’s history and journey.
“…and so it is especially pleasing for me personally as the Prime Minister of SI and also representing my government to celebrate your country’s national day (Australian Day).
“We join to acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding achievement as a nation and with your success and further prosperity in the years ahead,” Mr Houenipwela said.
He also thanked the Australian Government and its people for the ongoing bilateral support rendered to Solomon Islands.
He said Solomon Islands look forward to developing the regional framework to ensure its part of the work is safe, secure and a place where people can enjoy to live.
“I also wish to register my sincere appreciation to the Australian Government for the ongoing discussions and continuing offers and as well as assistance to Solomon Islands in critical areas of health, education, infrastructure, energy, government, electoral reform, telecommunications to name a few,” he said.”
