Letter to the Editor, Solomon Star and Island Sun Newspapers.
It seems to be a daily occurrence these days of reading about one school after another being reported to have fallen into disrepair and dilapidated.
The latest report this week concerns the state of the Lengana Primary School located at Simbo in the Western Province.
A concerned parent, Jonathan Boso, has called on the Western Province Education Authority to quickly inspect the school.
Mr Boso said he and other parents were concerned that their children were not performing well at the school.
What happens to be rather different to this rather sad situation is that Mr Boso and the Lengana Primary and Community High School Principal, Gordon Zebo, are proposing parents of the school children work with the Western Province Education Authority to, collectively, as a community initiative, help upgrade the school to improve the facilities and aid the studies of the pupils.
I very much hope the community will take the initiative and all contribute to getting the school back to what it should be, a fitting place of learning for the benefit of the young students and their futures.
Well done Mr Boso and Mr Zebo!
I wish you good luck and success in your worthy cause.
