A landslide at Lambi in West Guadalcanal has reportedly caused two deaths.
A Police Media statement relayed by the Solomon Star newspaper, today, Friday, has indicated officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have gone to Lambi in west Guadalcanal to investigate a landslide which reportedly washed down to Lambi village from a nearby hill yesterday.
The initial reports claim eight people, including children, were covered by the landslide. Two dead bodies have been said to have been recovered while a search continues for those still missing.
The Acting Commissioner of Police has said his officers arrived at Lambi by a patrol boat this morning and are now assisting the community in searching for the missing people.
The police commissioner has extended his condolences to the immediate families, friends and relatives for the loss of their loved ones in the tragic incident.
