300 crutches soon on the way to the National Referral Hospital (NRH) in Honiara.
I am able to confirm that 300 crutches have been procured for the National Referral Hospital (NRH) in Honiara and are ready to be loaded in a container which will be freighted on a vessel that will arrive in Honiara about the middle of March.
The crutches were purchased by the Solomon Islands Forest Association (SFA) following an appeal to provide mobility aids to the former NRH patients that had been given surgery and had a leg amputated
Some of the crutches will be given to patients at the NRH who have also had a lower limb amputation and are awaiting medical discharge from the hospital.
I has been known for a very long time that the number of former NRH patients needing walking aids has been several hundred and the voluntary charity aid by the SFA is much appreciated and I hope will be beneficial to those who have waited for so long for help.
The appeal for crutches was circulated locally via the media and overseas via my website and the only response to the appeal came from the SFA.
Yours sincerely
